Current facilities includes; full facility rodeo grounds, 4x4 race track, hall, fully equipped concession facilities, a small playground, and a moto-cross track.

Directions:

The location of the Sports & Recreation Centre is approximately 33km north of Kamloops, British Columbia on Westsyde Road. This paved secondary highway winds through the beautiful North Thompson Valley by the flowing North Thompson River.

The Sports & Recreation Centre is located within the community of the Whispering Pines / Clinton Indian Band, a member of the Shuswap Nation Terrirtory Bands of British Columbia Interior Region.

We have many possible packages available to suit all needs of recreational activities and special events.

The long term goal is for the Recreation Center facilities to seek recognition and to provide a variety of services to the general public. Also for the Sports & Recreation Center to become an independent entity of the Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band.

Background

The current developed projects were constructed by the Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band, creating the Rodeo Facilities of approximate cost of $300,000.00 and was funded by the Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band.

Many people love the rural area, camping and general facilities provided.

Support

The local Band Council of Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band Government is in very much support of the Whispering Pines Sports and Recreation Center.

The Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band is the smallest band population in the Interior of British Columbia. We strive to be recognized, heard, giving, creative, hostess of family values, sports and recreational and entertainment alike.

Many businesses within the Interior of British Columbia support the Whispering Pines Sports and Recreation by general donations of merchandise and/or currency. The general donations assist with prizes and added purse(s) to the hosted events. There are many vendors small/large including local businesses who set up their booths in the vicinity of the facilities promoting, selling merchandise & products to spectators and competitors alike.

Scope

The Sports and Recreation Center includes full recreational and sport facilities. Majority of the sports and recreational facilities cater to one sport and not a variety. Our intention is to pursue and host multiple diverse activities to the Interior of British Columbia in the sports and recreation area.

The Rodeo Facilities entail approximately 50 acres of the economic development area, thereby catering to horsemanship recreational activities and also includes a playground area for children. The newly created moto-cross track provides a service to the motor-cross (bikes/motorbikes) participants in the summer and ski-doo fanatics in the winter. Future proposed developments will be implemented in a timely manner when funding becomes available.

All facilities are located within accessible distances of each other for easy access for the entertainment services and notably to the shower/washroom trailer facilities.

Organization

The Whispering Pines Sports and Recreation Center has many volunteers, the community member of the Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band assist where possible and are qualified.

Many of our food venue's are certified by food safe, with the concession fully inspected by the Environmental Health. Hiring of a summer Maintenance crew is essential for all facilities at the Sports and Recreation Center to safety for spectator and participants alike.

Seeking of funds is completed by the committee reps which consist of 6 reps, who organize and coordinate hosted events, each whom specialize in specified areas required.

Overhead Costs

General expenses of advertisement, liability insurance, food purchases, required employees, and the initial set up will be costly and be deducted from amounts received from the event sponsors and the Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band. Local sponsors will receive promotional advertisements of business and the local band government will receive promotional advertisement of facilities.

All surplus income will be geared towards the next event and all deficit(s) will be acquired by host. Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band.
