It has been a very busy two weeks for WPCIB, staff, contractors and youth. We have had a locatee meeting, firefighters to Momich Lake Fire and numerous meetings in Vancouver including the All Chiefs meeting.

The WPCIB together with Manny Jules of FNTC hosted a meeting with locatees of WPCIB. The purpose of the meeting is to get a better understanding of land designation and the benefits and opportunity costs of such a designation. Many communities have designated and developed their economies and developed by-laws and codes to protect environment and wildlife. We have
scheduled another meeting for September 20th to review similar by-laws and codes to protect those interests brought forward by our members, such as:
bear habitat, bird habitat and water protection.

A special thank you to Manny Jules for his help.

Wildland Protection Services, the Cowboy Crews, are out on the Momich Lake Fire (K11011) which is east of Clearwater and North of Adams Lake. It is a large fire and our crews are likely to be the full two weeks there.

This week brought meetings in Vancouver for the All Chiefs Meeting which is facilitated by UBCIC, BC AFN and the FN Summit. The purpose of the meeting is to review put he finishing touches on the demise of the provinces Recognition and Reconciliation Legislation. The meeting is well attended and many speakers have brought forth their thoughts about the summer meetings and the legal problems brought about by such legislation.

Before the All Chiefs meeting was scheduled we had meeting scheduled with Mandell Pinder to review INACs acceptance of our Granges Mine and Hihum Specific claims. Presentation will be made to the community for feed back as it pertains to title and rights. Other meeting regarding Mica 5/6 have been scheduled for September 9th to work with other Secwepemc communities in the same state of negotiations.

Lastly a Canadian Bio-mass conference attend by Chief Felix Arnouse and myself was well attended. Presentation are well received and the bio mass/bio energy world is on its way up and we can be a large part as no tenure can be issued without First Nations participation.
